Selfridge’s Bags Award Shortlist for Kemper System
Selfridge's Bags Award Shortlist for Kemper System
A high-profile roof refurbishment project at Selfridge's' Oxford Street store has been shortlisted in the 'Liquid Applied Roofing' category of the NFRC Awards (National Federation of Roofing Contractors).
Contractor, Capital Roofing Company Limited, entered the awards for the Selfridge's project, which has seen the company use Kemper System's Kemperol 2K-PUR solvent-free liquid waterproofing system* across large areas of the famous store's complex roof. The Kemperol 2K-PUR system includes a castor-oil based liquid resin and a non woven reinforcement fleece manufactured using recycled plastic bottles, which are applied in a single process without the need to strip out the existing substrate. This has enabled Capital roofing to refurbish even the most complex areas of Selfridge's' roof easily without any business interruption issues or unpleasant fumes to deter shoppers.
The shortlisted entry is one of only four finalists in the NFRC Awards' 'Liquid Applied Waterproofing' category and includes an area of the roof that was used for a temporary visitor attraction that was installed post refurbishment Such is the integrity of the Kemperol 2K-PUR system that a rooftop 'boating lake' was placed on top of it and, while some of the would-be oarsmen may have got a little wet around the ankles, the shoppers inside the store remained dry.
Comments managing director of Kemper System, Harry Cowell: "These are very prestigious and competitive awards and we are delighted that our 2K-PUR system has reached the final four. It is the first solvent-free wet on-wet system on the UK market and the fact that high profile projects like this one at Selfridges are specifying the system demonstrates the appetite for roofing products that offer a viable eco-friendly solution without sacrificing waterproofing integrity."
