KEMPER’S BUFFALO STORY:
In 2009, the IBG industrial holding from Cologne, Germany announced a plan to establish a North American manufacturing presence. This newly-established production facility would allow the company to expand its sales into Canada and South America from its US headquarters. Potential locations were explored from Florida to North Carolina. Richard Doornink, Managing Director of the new headquarters suggested the Buffalo, New York area as possible location. Availability of workforce, close proximity to major markets, and real estate costs were the critical factors proposed by Mr. Doornink for this choice of venue.
In June 2009 Kemper System acquired a 45,000 square foot facility at 1200 North America Drive located in West Seneca, a town directly outside of Buffalo. The space, formerly occupied by Excel Precision, has the capacity to expand by an additional 25,000-square feet ensuring that it can continue to grow with Kemper System's business. In March 2010 a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Managing Directors of both KSG and IBG was held and Kemper System was officially open for business in North America.
Since its establishment, KSA continues to realize its growth and expansion goals. Both iconic American buildings and state of the art buildings boast the protective waterproofing, roofing and surfacing application that is Kemper System.
